Calm My Anxious Heart - Chapter 2

Icebreaker: What is the best thing that happened to you this week?

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.    Philippians 4:6,7

“Most of us can categorize our lives in both positive and negative ways.”  Right now let’s take 5 min. and write a list of positives and negatives of your life.

  1. Which list is longer? Which list do you spend the majority of your time dwelling on?

O.K., we know our part is to, not be anxious anything, but to pray about everything we’re anxious about and to give thanks when we present our prayers to God.  But what is God’s part?

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Soooo ifwe make the choice to pray instead of worry,“we will personally experience God’s peace.”

Let’s summarize:

  1. Mud or Stars. How do you categorize your life?
  2. What is your part? Philippians 4:6
  3. What is God’s part? Philippians 4:7
  4. Think about such things: Philippians 4:8
