Do you like your job?  Why or why not?  And would you keep your job if you suddenly inherited a million dollars?

Reflect on the weekend message…  Was there anything that God impressed on your heart?

We will continue practicing the SOAP devotional method together!   (GG Leaders:  You may need to vary the amount of time for each segment.  For example, you may choose to adapt the “20/20/20 Program” to the “10/10/40 Program.”  Bring extra pens, paper, and Bibles for everyone in the group!)

S:  Scripture   Take your time, reading prayerfully, and allow God to speak to you personally.  Look for a verse that particularly speaks to you and write it in your journal.  Write out the reference & verse.
O:  Observation   What do you think God is saying in this verse? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal the meaning to you.  Paraphrase and write this scripture down in your own words.  Record any observations you make using the questions below as a general guide.
A:  Application   Personalize what you have read by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. Journal how this scripture can apply to you today, using the questions below as a general guide.
P:  Prayer   This can be as simple as asking God to help you apply this scripture. Thank Him for what he is teaching you through this verse. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation. Be sure to listen to what God has to say and journal about it. Tell Him your worries and concerns, and let him carry your burdens. Thank Him for all He’s done in your life.  Also, pray for people you are reaching out to!

To begin the time, please read the following passage together.
Exodus 6:2–8 (NLT)
2 And God said to Moses, “I am Yahweh—‘the LORD.’* 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty’*—but I did not reveal my name, Yahweh, to them. 4 And I reaffirmed my covenant with them. Under its terms, I promised to give them the land of Canaan, where they were living as foreigners. 5 You can be sure that I have heard the groans of the people of Israel, who are now slaves to the Egyptians. And I am well aware of my covenant with them.
6 “Therefore, say to the people of Israel: ‘I am the LORD. I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment. 7 I will claim you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God who has freed you from your oppression in Egypt. 8 I will bring you into the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I will give it to you as your very own possession. I am the LORD!’ ”

Now break off quietly and SOAP Exodus 14, 15:22-27, & 16.

Please OBSERVE the three major incidents that caused the Israelites to worry. Write down your answers to the following questions.

1. What were the three circumstances that created worry with the Israelites?

2. How did worry create additional problems?

3. How could have the truth in Exodus 6:2-8 helped calmed their anxiety?

Now, write out how God wants you to APPLY this to your life.
